Summary
Jayce, at the Hexgates, makes a desperate and suicidal play to try and sway Viktor from his path of destruction. Something that Viktor wouldn't be able to resist, that even the Mage—in all his infinite wisdom and careful planning—never could have anticipated; he offers himself, a sacrificial lamb for the alter of this strange, new God. An offering that Viktor is equally perplexed and intrigued by.
Fortunately, or unfortunately for Jayce, the plan goes exactly as he wanted.

“I’m already on a medication to suppress estrus,” Viktor informs him dully. Jayce’s whole face burns at his flippant ribaldry. “I had to be, in order to have a residence here. What else do you want me to do, Jayce?” He sounds tired, and Jayce feels like even more like an asshole.
“It’s just the smell,” he whines. “I - I can’t help smelling it if you don’t, you know, block it.”
Now Viktor looks interested. His eyes are sharp, too knowing. “And what do I smell like?”
“That’s an intimate question,” Jayce coughs, because it is, but all Viktor does is bend one thick eyebrow upward. “Um.”

Summary
A sequel to isolation.
Jayce gets Viktor out of Piltover, and nothing is as easy as it should be.
“I feel as if I’m not quite myself,” Viktor says.
Jayce is quiet, and the silence stretches between them. When Jayce finally speaks, he says, “I don’t feel like myself either.”
Viktor meets his eyes. It’s a marvel, he thinks, that even when he is most lost to his own mind, Jayce can still follow.

Summary
The Machine Herald is captured by Piltover after a failed attack on the bridge, and he is mortally wounded in the process. Jayce must risk everything to save him and repair the damage done, racing against the clock as Piltover hunts him down for treason, but the history between them complicates things. Despite his claims that his actions are no longer dictated by emotion, Viktor is still harboring anger and hatred for his exile in the wake of Jinx's attack, and blames Jayce for what happened. But despite it all, they still care about each other (in their own violent, traumatized ways) and as time runs out, necessity forces them to face the past—and each other—if they want to get out of this unscathed.
