Summary
This story starts with an anonymous letter: "Rookwood is back."
Sunan Saelee is not like other sixth-years at Hogwarts. He's a late-bloomer and only started at Hogwarts a year ago, but he'd already earned a reputation by defeating the notorious second-in-command of Victor Rookwood's criminal enterprise. But little else is known about Sunan - his family, his life before Hogwarts, and how he came to wield an ancient and powerful form of magic that the Wizarding World has considered lost for centuries.
With Victor Rookwood's mysterious disappearance, Sunan expects his second year at Hogwarts to be a quiet one - that is, until he finds out that Rookwood is back and coming for him, and the Ministry of Magic intends to dig deep into his past.
As Sunan struggles with Rookwood's ruffians and the Ministry's corrupt hands, he finds resources in his friends to navigate his unique power, come to terms with his past, and forge his own purpose.

Cassia and her friends have a terrible feeling it's connected to her, urging her to develop her prowess ever more quickly. She finds mentorship in Hypatia Herbert, the enigmatic Alchemy professor with a quest of her own, and whom Cassia isn't sure she trusts entirely.
Cassia swiftly realizes this won't be the "less-exciting" year she'd wished for. But perhaps—despite the danger of it all—she and her friends can remedy their previous wrongs and heal from the devastating consequences weighing over them, turning from darkness into something brighter.
