Paris is polluted by lights on the first day of spring, bringing wonders to Muzan Kibutsuji’s established dining theatre. Yet to those in the shadows and to Shinobu Kocho, the theatre’s renowned Lady Butterfly, the annual opening night is the same opening night every year. Tainted by the smell of liquor and expensive perfume, which isn’t washed away by what remains of the rain, it's a night where nothing changes for the better.
