Sometimes, Reki wished he truly did hate his best friend. Maybe he could at least use the rage to become a better skater, improve where he was lacking. If he let himself hide behind the denial, he almost believed it was true. Almost believed he did indeed harbour those ugly feelings towards the light of his life. But if he was just a bit honest with himself, he knew he didn't actually hate Langa. And if he was completely honest with himself, there wasn't an atom in his whole body that ever even could hate Langa.

Bradley was 156 days sober when him and Max went on their first date. He was beaming with excitement, finally content with whom he was becoming, ready to express his affections for the boy with no restrictions. Max knew about his past and was proud of him for coming this far. He didn't judge him for his mistakes, didn't look down on him for his substance abuse, didn't think less of him for his past behavior—that he worked hard to amend for—and that made Bradley really damn happy.
