Spreading his fingers and pressing down, just to feel the minute divots that nicked at his skin from the stone. Hades’ eyes tracked the movements before falling back to Midas. “Am I not?”

Picking up his phone as if it was about to burn his hand, he pulled open his photos before promptly crushing it against his chest. He needed to get a hold of himself before he walked back out there. He needed to delete the picture. Peeking down once more, his heart stuttered at the image that was still displayed across the screen.

He knew Jade was checking in on him too, and between the two of them they would be able to tell if something was seriously wrong.
“Yeah, I was there this morning. But, I think he’s feeling better because he was asking me so many questions about these little guys.” She cooed the last few words to the creature in her hands, and Kendo’s stomach twisted again. Sharper this time, an uneasy feeling prickling through his spine, even if he couldn’t place why.

To know that Kado at least had a little appreciation for everything now that things had settled between them.“I’m glad that we’ve gotten to where we are now,” Kado continued. His voice was soft, and the way he spoke made Midas’s chest flutter. Honeyed words nestled warmly, spreading from his chest to his belly as he met the man’s eyes. The appreciation there made him feel good. The sounds of the rest of the world seemed to fall away, eager to listen to Kado now.
