With all the solemnity a six year old boy could muster, Katsuki said outright, “Deku, you’re dumb and ugly. Marry me.”
Izuku burst out laughing, the sound bright and sweet like birdsong. He laughed so hard that Katsuki scowled and punched his arm, which only made him giggle harder as he tumbled back into the grass. Izuku laughed because he was confused too. Marriage, to him, was something meant for grown-ups and kings and queens, for nobles in stiff collars who looked like they’d eaten a bite of moldy bread and were forced to swallow.
He thought marriage was a forever kind of promise, but in his heart, he knew they had already made that vow.
