Hermione jumped when she heard her name in a feral voice that was much too close. She felt a tingle down her spine and looked around, unseeing in the pitch black of night.
“Oculus nox,” she whispered, tapping her temple with her wand.
Suddenly, the forest around her came into sharp focus.
She gasped in shock.
Six feet away stood Remus Lupin, head cocked at an angle. He stared at her, eyes dark and mouth in a grim line.
