It’s just- his new neighborhood is a little too weird. Example: a neighbor who loves singing any time of day, a neighbor who seems to want to bite Dante’s neck, a neighbor with scarily-realistic gore-makeup abilities, and a neighbor who seemingly appears and disappears out of nowhere.
At least there’s a cute guy across the street. Although he seems hellbent on stopping Dante from interacting with any other neighbors.

Eight years is too long even for the world’s most patient man, so Dante straightens his collar and purchases a simple metal ring and visits the flower shop for a bouquet on Andrew’s twenty-sixth birthday. After school ends today, I’m going to get out of here, unlock the car, and drive to the entrance, and I’m going to wait there. I’m taking you to dinner. Lunch-dinner. Early dinner. Dinner at 4pm.”
Dante opens his mouth, then closes it. He says, against his better judgment, with no moves to make any lists, “Okay.”
