“Wow, that’s a color.” A raspy voice beside his ear makes Dean jump. “Oh, shit. I’m sorry. Just a shocking color to get for gloves.”
Dean blinks at the stranger’s face in confusion. He has gorgeous blue eyes and a permanent pout that’s currently in a perfect smile. He looks down at his hands and sees neon yellow gloves. Oh, yea. Shit, he should say something to this beautiful stranger. What does he say? Is he taking too long? “My dad died.”
“Holy shit.” Fucking christ. Wrong thing. Absolute wrong thing to say. “I’m…. so sorry.”

Summary
Dean once wrestled a werewolf to the ground after breaking his leg. He’s been knocked out by monsters more times than anyone could count. Hell, he literally saved the work, like, at least three times. He’s never been a huge crier. Alright, fine. Every once in a while there’d be some emotional moment or one of the sad puppy commercials with that stupid angel song playing in the background. And, yea, rom coms made him shed a tear on a couple occasions. He’s tough, though, okay? He’s tough. But Cas really isn’t. It’s not like he’s weak or anything. He’s just human. For the first time, he’s cold and tired and so very human. He cries and feels and hurts. And Dean tries to help the best he can but it turns out teaching a millennia old angel how to be human is actually insanely hard. He’s good with babies so you’d think it would be similar, you know? Babies need help learning to do things on their own. And kids need help learning, too. Things like doing your own laundry and making food. Dean did that. He did it with Sam and he even did it with Ben. It’s different this time, though. It’s different for Dean, but it’s really different for Cas.

“how bad is it today? on a scale of one to ten?” his voice is gentle and eddie doesn’t deserve that. he doesn’t deserve to be treated softly. almost immediately the tears start to roll down his cheeks.
“nine. no, eight. eight and a half.” eddie sniffs and pulls the covers over his face a little.
“okay.” buck stands and eddie aches. he doesn’t even know what for, but he aches. “alright, i’m going to get chris ready and take him to school then i’ll be back. an hour tops, okay? eddie, let me know that’s okay please.”
“i trust you.” and it’s not the answer he was asking for but eddie pulls the covers over his face fully and buck hums.
