Summary
“Holy shit, Eddie. You weren’t kidding. You have a hot husband,” is the first thing Greta says 30 seconds into Eddie pretending he’s not freaking the fuck out about pretending Buck is his husband at his barber’s lesbian wedding.
He kind of feels like he’s going to puke. This was a bad idea. This was a terrible idea.
Or, a classic case of fake dating at a wedding.

Summary
A patient is flirting with Buck. The good news is, Buck seems to be enjoying himself immensely judging by his tilted grin and the fact that he’s lingering while Hen and Eddie actually try to do their jobs. The bad news is… all of the above.
“Alright, Buck,” Chim swoops in like Eddie’s knight in shining armor. “Stop distracting your husband and let him do his job.”
Buck’s face drops, gawking at Chimney as he continues on his way to the truck.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize…” their patient begins, her shoulders bunching to her ears.
“No!” Buck waves his hands, whipping his head down to look at her. “No. Soon to be ex-husband, actually.”
She makes a face. Eddie tries not to. “That sounds… complicated,” she says.
“Nope. Not complicated at all,” Buck insists. “We got married as a joke in Vegas. It didn’t mean anything. Drunken mistake.”
Eddie clenches his jaw, praying for the ground to open up and drag him under.
Eddie has come to the decision that a forever love is not for him. He plans to remain happily single for the rest of his life. That is, until a drunken night in Vegas changes everything.

Summary
“I mean, I loved your mom.”
Chris looks at him, almost quizzingly, little lines appearing beneath his eyebrows. “But not in a soulmate way?”
Eddie’s cheeks flame. He doesn’t know where the hell this is going. He doesn’t like it. “In a… You’re my best friend and you gave me a beautiful kid kind of way.”
Chris lays his spoon down on his napkin, then folds his hands in front of him, forearms on the table, like he’s studying a chessboard and its pieces, needing to make the right move. “I don’t get it.”
“What’s there to get?”
“You just described Buck.”
Eddie blinks. “Wha - What?”

Or - When an earthquake hits L.A., and a Hildy coffeemaker hits *him*, Eddie Diaz is hurled unwillingly into the worst nightmare he’s had. A nightmare where soulmates exist. And it loops. Over and over and over again.

Summary
He’s not stupid. It took him some time — years — but Eddie’s half certain that, should his patience snap one day, should he lean in across the way one night when it’s just the two of them, should he palm at Buck’s jaw to bring his face closer and kiss him on the mouth, Buck would kiss him back. That’s not the problem.
The problem is that Eddie’s gonna ruin it.
He’s ruined every other romantic relationship in his life. If it happens with Buck, Eddie knows neither of them will come back from it.
These days, he’s content with having Buck the way he does now. He may succumb to weakness, sometimes, like he just did in the kitchen, holding Buck like that, but Eddie’s willpower is the stuff of legend. He’s happy with his place in Buck’s life. He can play the part of codependent best friend, dad who stepped up, platonic soulmate.
The main issue here, really, hindsight twenty-twenty and all, is that Eddie really misses being a husband.
or: five times eddie, willing and knowing, acts like buck's husband, and one time he. well. you can guess where this is going.

Summary
“Anyway, it’s not a big deal; it happens to everyone at some time or another here. Like Ravi with Buck,” Ravi throws his hands in the air, defeated. “Or like Bobby with me,” Bobby shrugs his shoulders at the group while Buck gapes at him. “Or Buck with Eddie when he first started,” Chimney nods at the final pair, inhaling another slice of pizza into his huge mouth, humming in approval, unaware that five sets of eyes were now locked onto him. He opens his eyes and pauses. “What?”
It takes a moment, but it finally clicks in Chimney’s head. “Oh, fuck,” he flashes his eyes to Buck in terror, wide-eyed, and Buck truly loves the guy, loves him like a brother, but sometimes he wishes Chimney wasn’t his actual brother because Maddie has clearly shared this little Buck fact with Chimney Can’t-Keep-A-Secret-To-Save-His-Life Han, and it’s not like Buck can kill Chimney because he’s Jee’s dad and it’s just –
Great.
This is great.

Or Buck fell first, Eddie fell harder, and it makes them both look stupid.
