Not noticing River’s longing gaze, V continued watching the city draw near, like a widow still holding hope that her long-lost husband will return home. V wasn’t built like River was. He was built for the city; for the crime, for the sex, for the eddies. None of that existed out where River lived. It was like a puzzle piece that didn’t fit with V’s. Oh and also Leon is very sick and doesn't want Sherry to worry about him. So of course he's doing a very poor job of making her not worry about him.
