“Sooo… what’s new with you?”
Sonic is a little distracted perusing sandwich options, fiddling with his chaos cola (he never picks anything else) and not really paying attention. In hindsight, that’s probably why he slips up and, instead of regaling Amy with the tale of his latest escapade, simply offers:
“Shadow wants to get a house.”
And then immediately looks like he wants to vomit. Or strangle himself.

Sonic has never had a home before.

Summary
Shadow sighs harshly. Something in his guts turns and twists. “You should not be so impatient that you’re willing to absorb whatever lethal power source you come across to blast through your problems.”
And he doesn’t want to pick up Sonic’s body in pieces from the floor, but Sonic’s waving a nonchalant hand before Shadow can voice his violent troubles.
“Worked well so far! I still have all my functioning limbs and everything.”
“Shame about the lack of functioning brain.”
-
Trapped in an abandoned Eggman bunker with no obvious way out, Shadow confronts Sonic's predilection for taking on whatever new power makes itself available to him, consequences be damned.

Summary
“Okay,” Sonic grumbles, grumpily rearranging his sticky limbs into a slightly less embarrassing pile. “Touché. But oil’s good for fur, right? I mean, Amy’s always taking those fish oil tablets – ”
Shadow nearly stomps on his head in incredulity. “You are not an engine! How are you even remotely comfortable?”
Sonic mumbles something into the floor that even Shadow’s advanced hearing can’t pick up, his ears folding down into a miserable line. Shadow takes one look at his sullen face and tuts. Right. So he is uncomfortable, he’s just avoiding the bath. Typical. Rolling his eyes, Shadow prods the toe of his skate into sticky ribs. Sonic’s hatred of water is somewhat understandable when faced with an ocean – not the bathtub.
“Come on.” Shadow pokes his skate further into Sonic’s side. “Get up. We’re getting in the bath this side of nightfall.”
Sonic’s ears perk up hopefully. “We?”
“Well,” Shadow amends, “You.”

Summary
You twist in place, and you would smile if you could, charmed by the deadly beauty before you. You don’t know why he’s so furious and somehow do at the same time. You want to tell him why, but you can’t, because you’re invisible, just a star, and only here for a goodbye –
Shadow’s expression shutters. The anger drops like a stone, slipping off him like oil on water. His face falls slack in some sickening mix of shock and bone-chilling grief. The expression upsets you, more than anyone else’s, if for no other reason than that Shadow is looking at you. Not at a point on the horizon, not with a gaze that’s just out of line – his stare is sharp, focused, and disbelieving.
Shadow’s voice rasps out, harsh and wrecked, like he hasn’t spoken for days,
“… Sonic?”

'The image of Neku falling to the concrete by the graffiti still haunts Beat like the reaper sprayed across Udagawa’s wall.
But anyway. No use dwelling or getting dragged down by shit that already happened – it’s not like he can change anything, right?'
Neku's finally found and finally home, and Beat couldn't be happier. They're safe and they're alive and everything's okay.
Well, apart from the headaches that have been plaguing Neku since he returned, and the emotions that haunt Beat worse than the ghosts that watch over the Underground. And Beat's never been much of a problem solver, more of a problem crusher, but just this once he doesn't want to charge in - lest he lose Neku all over again.
So yeah. Everything's swell. Kind of.

Summary
a nautical phrase: to prepare for a difficulty or crisis.
For the last few years, Kageyama Tobio's life as a pirate captain on the high seas has run like this: find the loot, score the loot, and then chase after Hinata Shouyou, who has stolen the treasure from him to get it back.
Until a mutiny forces Kageyama - out of options and out of a ship - to partner up with his rival captain in pursuit of the storied treasure, The Asteria. Kageyama would like nothing less, but left without a choice he reluctantly agrees to Hinata's terms. Their voyage takes them on a journey that's far from smooth sailing, as they both learn what it truly means to be free.
(A pirate AU; Hinata is too reckless and Kageyama just can't let go. Somewhere along the line, they'll need to meet in the middle.)

Summary
There’s something trapped in the mermaid's clutches – not mackerel – but Atsumu doesn’t get a chance to look properly before the mermaid is hurling whatever it is straight at him.
It lands with a wet slap by Atsumu’s feet.
Atsumu blinks down at it. It’s a… starfish? A bit of a mangled one, like the mermaid had torn it from a rock with his claws, but it’s still kinda cute. He bends down and picks it up gingerly, risking a glance at the mermaid – still staring at him without blinking. Is he supposed to eat it?
“Thank… you?” Atsumu hazards, before making a big show of slipping the mangled starfish into his pocket.
-
Miya Atsumu is in a crisis. He's coming to the end of his college degree and has nothing to show for it, while his brother is successfully launching his restaurant in the seaside town that they visit every year. Determined to have a chill summer while he figures his shit out, he is not quite prepared for it to become a seasonal romance with a mermaid.

Hinata’s head wrenches up, his temper sparking violently. “Do you mind? I’m trying to reconcile that I’m about to die here – oh, hello, Kageyama.”
Kageyama – who has apparently popped out of thin air – looks at him blandly from the neighbouring seat. Silently, he lets go of Hinata’s wrist and holds out his hand.
Hinata looks at it and sniffles. “My emotional support flight attendant…” he burbles, forgetting to temper his volume as he fights back relieved tears.
(A flight attendant AU; Hinata Shouyou is a sports commentator who's terrified of flying and has to travel all over the world for his job. Kageyama Tobio is the unreasonably hot, unreasonably rude flight attendant who's going to teach him that it's not that bad.)

“Is there something you wanted to do, Kageyama-kun?” Shouyou walks his fingers up Kageyama’s chest until they reach his collarbone, tracing the sharp edge of it. “You didn’t decide that you wanted to get me off and read all those websites without thinking about what you want to do for me, right?”
Breathing hitching again, Kageyama licks his lips. “Yeah,” he admits on a rasp.
Shouyou slides his finger across Kageyama’s clavicle, over his shoulder and round the back of his neck, playing with the hairs at the nape. “So… what did you pick?”

“That Kageyama of yours is never coming to get you. No-one is. You’re always going to be held here, as my little bargaining chip – “
Hinata’s chest finally expands sharply with a gasp, his pulse roaring in his ears, the cellar and that man’s shadowed face evaporating instantly in favour of a different deep, inky blackness.
It takes him a few seconds to realise that he’s awake.

“This the crawl where it’s like six bars in three hours?” Osamu checks, cutting through Atsumu’s internal tale of woe.
“I thought ya hadn’t heard of it?” Atsumu shoots back suspiciously.
“I didn’t say that,” Osamu shrugs. “I just said no.”
Atsumu valiantly resists the urge to flop dramatically against Osamu’s counter. “Why not?” he demands, only just keeping the whine out of his voice. “You don’t mind drinkin’! Bring Suna along! Socialise somewhere that ain’t the wholesalers.”
“Because the other rule of that crawl is that ya gotta kiss a stranger along the way,” Osamu points out.
-
Miya Atsumu's pride has been challenged and now he must prove himself - with a glass of premium whiskey in every bar and a smooch with a hot stranger. That curly haired guy with the moles will probably do.

Summary
For all these years, he’s been able to read Hinata so well, the only person who has ever come so naturally to him. What he’s thinking, what he really means beneath his teasing words and remarks, what he’s going to do on the court, it’s all a well-read map to Tobio. And even though Hinata is surprising by nature, breaking expectations as easy as breathing, Tobio still knows him. Hinata can take him off guard, but Tobio still knows.
It's an extremely bitter pill to swallow: the knowledge that he might, just maybe, not have all of the pieces to Hinata’s puzzle.
-
Kageyama has always thought that he knows Hinata like the back of his hand. They've been rivals, teammates, and friends for a decade now - what more could there possibly be to learn? But as Kageyama supports Hinata through his grief following an unexpected loss, and volleyball out of the equation, they both realise that there's so much more to know. About each other and their relationship.
Hinata and Kageyama: getting to know each other all over again.

So Shouyou swallows it down and keeps it to himself and because he is a terrible, greedy thing he holds onto the feelings. Never lets them fade nor pass, a love that he clings to with all the ferocity that he can muster.
He can’t have Kageyama, but that doesn’t mean he has to stop being in love with him.
Perhaps, that too, is selfishness.

In which Hinata must learn when he cannot, and when he absolutely can, indulge in his inclination to be selfish.

“Who’s Hinata Shouyou?”
“My best friend,” Tobio replies shortly, eyes dropping back down to his drawing, the whistle-scratch of his pencil starting up again. “Did you find his page?”
Silence reigns. Crickets would chirp if they weren’t in the middle of a damn city. Atsumu raises his eyes to the ceiling and prays for patience.
“Tobio,” he says finally, speaking measured and slow, “why didn’t you just suggest your best friend when you mentioned tattoo models?”
Atsumu is aware – kind of, vaguely – of Tobio’s bestie. He’s never actually met him. If he has popped into the shop, it’s always been while Atsumu had been out or busy. Tobio’s mentioned him, of course – offhand, here and there – in passing comments that don’t stick in Atsumu’s memory. But he’s never said anything along the lines of ‘he likes art and collects tattoos and can take a mean selfie and is also really unfairly attractive. I should introduce you sometime.’
-
Miya Atsumu is a tattoo artist in a rut. When Kageyama Tobio, his business partner, suggests finding a tattoo model to try and bolster his struggling portfolio, Atsumu stumbles across Hinata Shouyou's Instagram profile and is immediately completely smitten.

“Okay,” Hinata agrees slowly, a grin spreading across his face as a small smile blossoms on Kageyama’s. “But I get to drive.”
“Why do you get to drive?”
“Do you want to end up in a hedge?”
“No. So why are you driving?”
This time, Hinata does kick him in the shin. “Look, I’m better listening to the instructions than trying to read them out, okay? I’m driving.”

Summary
There’s a stranger in his café.
He’s a young man, early twenties at most, with wild, messy red hair and exhausted looking brown eyes smudged with dark circles. He fidgets a little when Sugawara’s eyes land on him, face twitching into a sheepish half-smile, like he’s lacking the energy to complete the action.
“Hey there,” Sugawara says, starting his greeting again from the beginning as he walks over, feeling concern start to build in earnest. He’s about to say ‘Welcome to The V8 Café!’ or something with equally false cheer, but by the time that he’s made it in front of his new visitor what pops out instead is: “Dude, are you okay?”

Atsumu stretches out on his back across the bed and watches the coil of smoke drift up to his ceiling, lazily raising an eyebrow. “Thought you were gonna quit that,” he comments mildly.
Sakusa flicks some ash onto the cardboard box of cigarettes on the bedside table that he’s temporarily using as an ash tray. “We all have our vices,” he says simply, words slightly muffled as the cigarette returns between his lips.
Atsumu goes quiet at that, gaze drifting down to where his palm still rests against Sakusa’s thigh. Maybe everyone does. Maybe Sakusa is his.

Summary
The Kageyamas are the best blacksmiths in town - but no-one has ever really spoken to the younger brother, who keeps himself to his forge and his rifle.
Hinata Shouyou is one of their best customers, bringing the horses from his family's ranch to the shop for shoeing regularly. When he discovers Kageyama indulging in some target practice, a competition springs up. Hinata hadn't been expecting to ever actually talk to the guy, let alone get into a rifle shooting contest. But then again, he didn't expect to end up giving him horse riding lessons either.
Kageyama Tobio isn't really sure why he let a stranger shoot his rifle or agree to learn how to ride a horse, but he does know one thing: he's definitely not going to lose.
(A cowboy AU; Kageyama is the local blacksmith who's scared of horses, and Hinata's the ranch hand who can't shoot a gun. Time to swap skills. Competitively.)

“Should I just do it for you, for fuck’s sake?”
Sakusa’s lawyer looks appalled. Whether that’s from Atsumu’s crude language or the notion of somebody much younger than him doing his job, it’s not really clear. Not that Atsumu really gives a crap either way.
Sakusa himself just looks, bafflingly, mildly intrigued. “I thought you hated civil law, Mr. Criminal Prosecutor-in-training?” he says mildly.
“I do,” Atsumu sniffs. “But I’m actually in pain here watching your ‘lawyer’ work.”

“Keep them on,” Hinata whispers in his ear. “They look good.”
Something flickers in Kageyama’s gut against his will. “They’re sweatpants,” he says flatly.
“Yeah. And they look good. I like them,” Hinata says simply, leaning back just enough so that he can run his palms heavily over Kageyama’s clothed thighs, pushing the worn, loose fabric against his skin.

An extra for pursuit: Kageyama has a thing for Hinata being well-dressed. Hinata has thing for Kageyama being dressed in something else entirely.
