Jinx shook her head in disbelief, almost laughing. “You’re supposed to kill people like me.”
“I know.”
Jinx deflated, shrinking in on herself. “I don’t know how to be your friend, Ekko.”
Ekko smiled, shrugging it off. “Well, I’ve never been friends with a vampire before. I guess we’ll both have to figure it out as we go.”
Or
Ekko goes against everything he knows to save a vampire and ends up changing his life in ways he never could’ve imagined, giving him a love that lives on for eternity.

Summary
The moon sits high in the sky, but the guest knocking incessantly on Ekko’s door doesn’t seem to care what time it is. It isn’t unusual for Jinx to visit him at odd hours.
“Can I stay here tonight?” Her meek voice cuts through the air, pulling Ekko out of his trance, yet his voice is still lost to the confines of sleep. Her pleading eyes look up at him, and her lips quiver as more tears form. Jinx’s botched attempt at a chuckle doesn’t alleviate the tension.
“You planning to answer or are we going to be out in the hall all night, little man?”

Jinx looked over at him, at the way he was crouching to gently pull a scrap of wire out of Isha’s fingers before she broke it—or herself. His voice was soft when he explained what it did, fingers brushing hers as he showed her the switch mechanism. The girl nodded seriously, enthralled.
Something twisted and loosened all at once in her chest.
“You really don’t do things halfway,” she said, a little too quiet, a little too honest.
Ekko glanced over at her and gave a crooked smile. “Not with you.”

Sometime shortly before season 1 episode 4, Jinx and Ekko start meeting up in a ruined attic. On opposite sides of a war, their meetings are fragile and tense, but something keeps pulling them back — to the dust, the silence, the quiet space between past and future, where nothing is said and everything matters.
