“I should kill you right now,” Scaramouche spits.
But his holster’s nowhere to be found. Albedo looks at him for a second then points at the ground a few inches behind him, where his guns are laying on the grass, shiny under the beam of sun going through the leaves.
“If you wanted me dead, I’d already be,” smiles Albedo answering his confused look. “I figured since you didn’t kill me first thing upon seeing my face that I have to be of some value to you. Perhaps I have information I could give you?”
Scaramouche is, once more, completely taken aback by the softness in his voice.

Summary
Whoever this young man was, the artist had loved him. And it had likely been unrequited. Albedo felt an acute stab of sympathy for the painter. The loneliness and desire that poured out of these images was almost too much to bear. Looking at the portrait hurt, and yet Albedo couldn’t tear his eyes away. It forced you to gaze upon it, to long for the subject to finally turn around and look back at you.
Albedo becomes captivated by a mysterious portrait in the local museum.
