Summary
This is all Charles’ fault. If he hadn’t ventured so closely to the village then he would probably be asleep under the stars right now or foraging and hunting for food just like he has done every other day since he presented and was forced to flee his home. He lingered too long though, something drawing him closer and holding him there listening to the sound of voices and laughter. Perhaps it was to feel a sense that he wasn’t alone - just for a moment. It was a lapse in judgement, a lapse that might cost him dearly.
