Nathaniel Wesninski had never thought that running away was an option.
Honestly, he didn’t think that the Nest was a place where someone could ran away from without getting murdered. He had been trying hard to keep Kevin and Jean safe his whole life that running from the nest was more of a hazard than an actual solution. However, when Riko destroyed Kevin’s hand, that had been the turning point for Neil. If he could do that to Kevin, his partner and almost brother, what would he do to Jean and Neil? So, Neil took the beating while Jean took care of the car and drove away with him in his passenger seat.
“How much longer?” he muttered, with a broken voice.
“A couple of minutes more,” muttered Jean, in the drivers seat next to him. “Merde, Neil. You are bleeding all over the leather.”
Or:
Neil and Jean run away from the Nest when Riko breaks Kevin’s hand.
Wymack signs up the 3 of them for Palmetto University.

Summary
Percy groans, his head lolling forward. “‘Beth?” he croaks out. “Wha’ happened?” Her heart stutters and she tucks him closer to her chest, trying not to panic when she can feel his fever burning through her shirt. He’s getting worse by the second.
“You’re just a little sick, sunshine. We’re gonna find a place to rest.” she says, forcing her voice to not sound as devastated as she feels.
“...did I ruin the quest again?” he mumbles into her neck and her heart just about breaks.
“No, no sweetheart, you didn't ruin anything,” she whispers into his hair, rubbing his back in what she hopes is a soothing gesture. “Didn’t I tell you you’re more important than a quest?”
He’s stopped responding and Annabeth's stomach drops as she feels frantically for his pulse, two fingers placed on the soft hollow beside his windpipe. It’s faint, but still there, thank the Gods.
That’s how she spends the next few minutes while waiting for Grover to return - counting Percy’s pulse.
He’s not dying on her watch.
Or: Annabeth, Percy, and Grover go on their second quest together, and (shockingly) everything goes wrong.

Summary
The toilet flushes and then Shane is back on his feet—though he really shouldn’t be. “This sucks.”
Ilya waves a limp hand in the air above him. “Sucks for you? I am breaking many year streak of being vomit free while you…” he dangerously swallows, “...throw up all the time.”
“I do not,” Shane mumbles, into a pillow, once again back in bed.
“You have nervous stomach,” Ilya shrugs, “It’s endearing.”
Shane feels said stomach flip and he huffs indignantly. “Shut up. At least I didn’t puke on the ice.”
Shane and Ilya both get sick.

“Are you still cold, moya lazan'ya?” Ilya asks, gently touching his hand to Shane’s thigh to get his attention.
“Your what?” He lifts his head from where he’d been resting it against the airplane window, blinking blearily. “Lasagna?”
“Yes. Look at you, with all the, uh…” The English word he’s searching for eludes him, so he simply gestures at his husband, clad in a T-Shirt, a hoodie and two jackets, both his own and Ilya’s. The latter is slightly too big even on Shane’s muscular frame, and being wrapped up in it almost makes him look small.
___While on the airplane on the way home after a series of games with the Ottawa team, Shane is hit hard by the flu. The fever makes him emotional, and Ilya has feelings about that. Incredibly soft feelings.

Shane and Ilya are coming to terms with what it means to be in a relationship. During Ilya’s first season playing for Ottawa, he comes down with the stomach flu after losing to Montreal. Shane can tell something is wrong, but Ilya struggles to let Shane in when he’s vulnerable. Ilya is forced to let his guard down and he allows Shane to show him a form of intimacy that exists outside of the bedroom.
