Summary
“No, it’s not, uh, something I can talk about right now.” He explains, and it’s clear that the vault will remain locked until he otherwise decides to open it himself. “I’ve been, uh, kinda working up the nerve to tell you.”
Something springs eternally hopeful, though you try to keep your voice light and airy against all other odds. You hope that the smile that you’ve affixed to your face is sincere rather than eagerly optimistic.
“Sounds pretty serious.”
“Yeah, it is.” and it’s the lack of humor, replaced by steadfast sincerity, that makes you realize that this might be it.
tl;dr: the timing is just never quite right. Wally West/Reader

Meeting the parents is always stressing. It especially is so when your dad's Batman, and your mom is what many would consider a terrorist cult leader, while his dad is an alien come to conquer Earth and his mom is... weirdly normal. (Or: four times you meet each other's parents individually, and the one time they all meet.)

Summary
It wasn't fair. Not when he held her in his arms that godforsaken night, tears streaming down the apples of her cheeks as you both cradled each other beneath a crescent moon, bodies tangled in silk. He could still smell the lotion that clung to her skin, and later marred his sheets. Could taste her pomegranate lip gloss, smell her shampoo, could feel her. Dick remembered everything from that night, the way her inexperienced body responded to his every touch, every whisper along the shell of her ear, every nip to her thighs. He could still remember the ghost of his name on her lips, feel her perfectly manicured hands tangling in his hair as her essence coated his tongue. That night had been nothing short of magical, and yet, right on the cusp of agonizing.
