“Don’t claim me,” Liu Qingge warned, not moving from where he was sitting. His broken leg stretched out in front of him. He tried to push down the heat, but the energy he poured into the effort wasn’t enough to push it all the way out of his awareness. “I don’t want a mate.”
Shang Qinghua looked at him like he was a poisonous snake and took another big step away from him. “I won’t, I promise. Can you stand?”
Liu Qingge shifted his weight testingly. He winced before he could finish pushing himself upright and collapsed back to the ground. “No. It’s broken.”

After finding himself unexpectedly in heat during a mission, Liu Qingge is surprised to realize that Shang Qinghua is more honorable than he expected. Mobei Jun comes to a similar realization when Shang Qinghua, despite being covered in the needy scent of another omega’s heat, returns to his den alone and unsatisfied.
Shang Qinghua doesn’t realize shit.
A side story set after chapter 2 of I Am No Mother, I Am No Bride, I Am King. Shang Qinghua is Peak Lord and Mobei Jun is regent, but Luo Binghe has not joined the sect yet.

Before, that was where scales smoothed into skin. Now, they continued downwards. When John hooked his fingers in Nanaue’s waistband, he touched thin flaps of flesh that felt like fins. Summary
An ill-fated parent teacher conference reunites Jin Ling's wayward uncle with Sizhui's father. AKA: A matchmaking disaster as told by Jin Ling, Sizhui, and Jingyi.
Jin Ling knows he’s in deep trouble even before reporting to Headmaster Lan’s office, but the words “your uncle will be here soon” still strike the fear of God in him. His only consolation is that Jingyi and Sizhui’s guardians are also in the office, Jingyi’s mom already lecturing her sheepish-looking son. Lan-ayi only stops when Sizhui’s father, a quiet and tall man in white, clears his throat, causing her to engage him in one-sided smalltalk.
This is a disaster. Jin Ling had spent such a nice break at home for Mid-Autumn Festival, and Fairy’s presence had soothed his homesickness after returning to boarding school in Gusu. He knows pets aren’t allowed, but who is going to report Jin Ling when his father pays good money for a private suite in the dorms? Then there was the incident with Jingyi, a box of mooncakes, and a door left ajar. Long story short, he spent an hour chasing Fairy down the halls with Sizhui and Jingyi before finding his dog nosing up to a very angry Headmaster Lan.
