Summary
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a young prince lived in a shining castle. Although he had everything his heart desired, the prince was difficult, dangerous, and unkind. For his selfishness and cruelty, he was damned to live as a hideous beast in a cursed castle, sealed away from the rest of the world.
If he could learn to love another, and win that person's love before the last enchanted flower withered, the curse would be broken. If not, he would be doomed to remain a beast for all time.
As the years passed, he fell into despair, and lost all hope, for who could ever learn to love a beast?

"I, Geum Seongje, promise to love my dear husband, Seo Juntae, through every phase of the moon, in sickness and in health, in reason and in instinct, until death do us part."
Juntae wanted to kill himself.
"I, Seo Juntae, promise to—" Juntae couldn't say it. "Be with you in sickness and in health, for better or for worse, until—"
He swallowed the knot on his throat, hoping it was enough to stop it from burning.
"Until the end of my days."
