“It means I can’t find them, Lizzie!” Hope didn’t want to lose the patience, but there was a limit for everything. And when not, just like their mother years ago, her daughters were pretty good at making her lose it. “I’ve been trying to find them for the past ten minutes and I can’t find them, not even with magic!”
“You lost our four year old daughters inside the house, Hope?!”

“I know how sirebonds work,” Hope sharply clarified then, her jaw clenching as she fought the urge to bring more light into it; they hadn’t spoken about that, and she was fine with it. “And that wasn’t my fault.”
It wasn’t her fault.
Hope was well aware of the many things that she was to blame for and that she’d carried on her shoulders all her life, things that she thankfully couldn’t feel anymore, but this wasn’t one of them.

“Yes, it was.” Lizzie’s whisper was quiet but sharper than hers, as Hope’s eyes shifted back to the blonde’s fingers on the wheel, gripping more at it, “I told you so.”

Lizzie extended her right hand to the girl in front of her, but this girl with the shining auburn hair and dark blue eyes only stared down at it… with an expression that she didn’t know what to make of.
What she did know was the feeling of… ache, like acid, spreading on her chest as the girl looked up at her again, and simply said, “I'm Hope.” Her hand was still there hanging, waiting for this girl to just take it, though she didn’t make any attempt to as she finished saying, “I’m not a student here… I just got lost.”

“Now that’s the Hope I wanted to see… so bad, so ready to fight back.” Hope had to gulp very hard to have her leaning closer, and closer, enough for their noses to touch each other, and be able to feel her breath through her lips brushing hers as her blue eyes darkened to stare right into hers. “You used to tell me you liked it when I was mad… I see the appeal now.”
Lizzie was about to close the distance between their lips, but Hope pulled back, pushing her back down on the headboard with a hand on her chest – she couldn’t fall for it… if Lizzie had her in a moment of vulnerability like a kiss… like one of her kisses would have her, she could easily snap her neck and run off… to continue doing the mess she’d started before.
And by the cold giggle that the heretic let out, Hope confirmed it. “What? Are you scared of one little kiss, Mikaelson? So much for the mighty tribrid.”

Lizzie knew that in any other normal relationship she should be upset that her girlfriend wasn’t saying it back or was pointedly ignoring her, but she smirked up and continued. “I said I love you.”
“I heard you the first time.”
Lizzie rolled her eyes for that, but her smirk grew when she felt Hope’s hand – very slowly and softly – caressing the side of her hip, enough for her to feel it, but enough for her to deny it if she pointed it out. Well, she didn’t say it back – yet, but she kept showing it through her small touches and gestures, so Lizzie didn’t mind; pros and cons of dating a no humanity tribrid, she supposed.

They were always together at school, at parties, at movie theaters, at restaurants. They’d spend the night at each other’s houses, watching movies and cuddling – Lizzie’s favorite hobby – or just talking till one of them fell asleep.
