A few moments later, he could see his father standing over him as he cowered in the trunk of the car. This was the place his father stashed him whenever Joyce wasn’t around to object. He could hear the slurs and harsh words leave his father’s mouth with such malice that all he could do was cry in response.
And then just like that, he was back. Back with Vecna. Back in a place worse than hell. He knew exactly the connection Vecna was trying to make, but he would never let himself believe. “You see the similarities, don’t you, William?” Will’s breath hitched. His heart hurt at the comparison. He knew it was not true. But to be able to put the two together like that, it burned deep inside of him. He wanted to hurt Vecna for putting that into his mind.
Mike is his everything; nobody can take that away.

Summary
Mike Wheeler is an overly nostalgic, highly anxious teenage boy with attachment issues. Junior year hits him hard as he watches his friends make post-graduation plans and he can't help but feel left behind, unsure of what he wants his future to look like. To deal with this perpetual existential dread, he starts self-medicating with weed that he buys off of Hawkins own Steve Harrington. It does wonders staving off his anxiety, but his best friend Max seems to think that it has completely shot his personality in the face. When he's caught by his mom, the course of his summer changes for the better, hopefully, when he and Max run into two very interesting figures from Max's past. One of which Mike thinks is so handsome and charming that he hates him. Or loves him, maybe. What's one more crisis?

Summary
I am bitter about the majority of Season Five, so here is a rewrite more rooted in the small town horror of Seasons One and Two. Will include Byler, actual stakes, fights that are not Marvel-ified, consequences, deep talks, Mike has a braincell and uses it, questions answered etc.
[EXCERPT:]
Ca-clunk. The radio clicked on by itself, and Mike dragged his hands down his face. Here came the regularly scheduled military broadcast!
“Attention citizens of Hawkins.” A resonating male voice garbled out of the speaker. “It is currently 5:43 on Sunday, November 1st. Curfew remains sharp at 6:00. All citizens are required to return to their residencies immediately to satisfy this curfew. If you are unable to return to your house by this time, please approach your nearest friendly soldier or officer, and they will be happy to give you a ride free of charge. Help keep Hawkins safe and do your part.”
Mike’s eyes strained from how hard he was rolling them. He jabbed Will with his elbow. “Help keep Hawkins safe, my ass. What do you think they’re really doing?”
Through a mouthful of mashed potatoes, Will mumbled: “Probably letting the demos run wild at night as a natural pest control.”
