"I forgot to tell you…" the Australian begun, his face serious and grave.
Max gritted his teeth, silently nodding for the man to continue. He couldn’t stand much more. He wanted to scream at the entire world. To run home and hide and force some sense down his own throat.

"I left a- a gift at your house. For your birthday… I planned it long ago, before-"

“I don’t know,” He finds himself staring at another picture. Max is laughing brightly, to the point where his eyes are crinkled, and his mother is smiling too. There is a navy cap on her head: it is a Red Bull cap. Max’s Red Bull cap. “It’s just hard to imagine, I think.”
Pascale looks at him. For a moment it is an odd look. But that quickly melts into a smile. One that is gentle around the eyes, and soft on the mouth. Somehow, it makes Charles feel young again — younger than how he already feels; twenty-one in a world where he is twenty-five.
“You don’t have to imagine it, mon garçon,” she says quietly. “It has already happened.”

“Are you sure about this?” Charles asked instead, laughing unbelievably and shaking his head. “This is not something we do, mate.”
“It could be something we do,” Max said, grinning at him. His fingers flexed on Charles’ hip, and it did something weird to Charles’ brain. When he looked back on this moment later, he would blame Max’s big hand on his hip for what he did next.
Because for some reason... Charles kissed him.
He wasn’t sure why.

Summary
There’s someone standing in his kitchen.
He looks young, maybe close to Max’s age, with messy dark brown hair that’s pulled back from his face by a red bandana, and he’s leaning against the kitchen counter like he’s supposed to be here.
Max’s first rather unhelpful thought is; fuck, he’s gorgeous. His second, more reasonable thought is;
“Who the fuck are you?”
“Charles Leclerc,” the man smiles. It's a little bit dazzling and Max is not at all distracted by it. He extends his hand for Max to shake. “I’m your new executive sous chef.”
Or: Max is very happy with his life, thank you very much. He has his restaurant, his team, and two Michelin stars at the age of 24. He definitely does not need some pretentious Monegasque chef coming in and throwing everything into chaos.
Except, maybe he does.

Summary
No one expected Galla, protector state of the Holy Principality of Seuloger, to turn heretic in such a violent way. After several years of Galla-stoked hostilities short of war, Anglosax and Hiberia set aside their differences in favor of a grand alliance to return Il Predestinato, Charles of House Leclerc, back to his rightful and Goddess-ordained throne.
Years later, as a gesture of goodwill, Hiberia sends several of its squires to Fort Silverstone, where Anglosax's finest pages and squires learn to become fierce knights. Squire Lando of Norris, loyal to Anglosax beyond words, must contend with his own distrust of the leader of this Hiberian contingent - Prince Carlos the Younger of Sainz, a newly minted and already-decorated Knight of Hiberia. Prince Carlos is immensely talented, kind, suspiciously handsome, and seemingly dedicated to this alliance. But Lando isn't buying any of it - for the sake of Anglosax. Allegedly.
