Summary
After war and pollution pummeled the Earth, the humans went underground to try and survive. After 20 years in the sanctuary the people have thrived from technology and a unique community system. They are ruled by chancellors; Lance's mom is one of them. Alfor, the main chancellor and the reason the sanctuary exists, assigns the jobs to young adults that they must work the rest of their lives. When Lance is assigned as a paladin, his entire world is flipped upside down. He learns that the chancellors have lied to the citizens in the sanctuary for 20 years.
