Sandy reached up, her slightly calloused hands reaching out to touch Joan’s face, her thumbs brushing over the sharp line of Joan’s jaw as her eyes flickered over her, looking almost green in the light.
"Forget about them," Sandy murmured. "Forget about Kim. Forget about Kari. It’s just us up here."
Joan nodded, giving in, not because of Kim’s predatory presence downstairs keeping her anchored in place but because the sheer physical tension between her and Sandy that had been building up had come to a head right at this very moment.
Yes of course she knew Kari was downstairs, she knew Kari could hear her up here, but she could feel the guilt dripping away with each touch from Sandy’s hands. Only an idiot would refuse Sandy Pesavento when she was being like this, looking up at Joan with those clear blue eyes, pulling her towards her spot on the edge of the bed by the wrist.
