Harry cleared his throat so softly that it could’ve been missed if Louis wasn’t holding his breath. “Have you ever thought about me? Like this?” Harry let his fingertips press just a bit firmer on Louis’ skin as he looked at the boy with his eyes still closed, hoping for an answer.
Louis’ head moved gently up and down, nodding once before stopping to gulp down the breath threatening to come out of him.

There’s no way around his departure, their inevitable fate. Harry will leave and he will return to London and when he sits in his new flat, wherever it might be, he will think of this summer and the warmth the sun brought him and the way it felt to be loved. He will compare all his future relationships to Louis and when they fall short, he will be disappointed. Harry knows this.

Nor was he expecting to cherish the sound of someone's voice over his own thoughts, marveling about the way it crackled against the burning embers in the fireplace.
