Summary
He's been kidnapped before. The majority of his drug-and-party-blurred teenage years notwithstanding, he can't remember a time concern over abduction wasn't a constant presence in the back of his head. Said concerns were not without merit either: in the last ten years alone, he's been an unwilling guest of any number of slimeball groups and one note villains looking to make their mark on Stark Industries or the Avengers.
He never thought the next successful abduction would come from one of his own. In hindsight, he knows he should have seen it coming.

Summary
When Toni was seven, her soulmarks manifested: a red star edged in silver under her right collar bone, and a white star edged in blue under her left collar bone. Mama told her never to show them to anyone, because the Starks have enemies, and those enemies could use the soulmarks against her. She didn't see how. They were only stupid stars that didn't do anything but feel cold.
By the time she's fifteen, she learns more about the marks, and the men they signify. Red Star wanders in and out of her life without seeming to remember her from one encounter to the next, and she's pretty sure White Star was lost decades ago. Soulmates, she decides, are useless flights of fantasy, because hers certainly aren't the supportive life partners all the stories say they're supposed to be.
But she's a grown-ass woman now, and it doesn't really matter if she wants them or not. It really doesn't matter if she's a loose cannon, and one is with SHIELD and the other with HYDRA.
They're hers and she's theirs.
And she really doesn't like it when people take her stuff.

Summary
Phil has two problems in his life: Toni Stark and Steve Rogers. The first is a brilliant, if erratic, inventor/billionaire who holds a lot of government defense contracts. It's in SHIELD's best interests to keep her happy, but she's spiralling out of control. And now with assassins let loose by someone interested in permanently removing her from the game, it's in SHIELD's best interests to keep her safe, No, she doesn't need a SHIELD goon following her around, thank you. Did SHIELD forget she's Iron Man and can damned well take care of herself?
But the second problem he has might solve the first and itself all at the same time. Captain America, displaced supersoldier and man out of time, adrift without direction and searching desperately for familiar ground. If Phil plays his cards right, he can arrange things so Steve latches onto protecting Toni from assassins and herself, and Toni will challenge Steve at every point, creating a depth of involvement that hooks Steve firmly into the present day, instead of being locked in an endless loop of wishing for the past.
And if he plays his cards exactly right, he can pat himself on the back at the wedding reception.

Agent Phil Coulson from the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division is persistent, Toni will give him that, and Pepper’s no help, since she keeps giving him appointments despite repeatedly being ordered to do no such thing. Toni’s becoming quite adept at ducking his determined attempts to speak with her, but she’s starting to feel practically hunted. It seems like every time she turns around, there he is with his non-threatening smile and his perfectly pressed suit, ever-so-politely asking her if she can spare ten minutes of her time.
A reimagining of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, starting from the press conference in Iron Man, and going forward from there.

Once upon a time, omegas were the heart of the pack, and society revolved around the queen. Then the alphas rose and threw down the omegas, keeping the lifebearers and priests chained, and killing any who matured into queens, eliminating the threat to the new world order. Over time, the complexity of status was lost, and the world is dominated by a hierarchy of alphas, ignored betas, and chained omegas."
Some families kept to the old ways, hiding and protecting their queens, but by and large, they were discovered and eliminated by the hunt/kill packs of the alphas. Eventually, only the Carbonells remained, a bare handful of true alphas and betas who held onto the old ways, but even they died out when their last scion, Maria Carbonell, married Howard Stark.
Now, the only legacy left of the Carbonells is Toni Stark, a product of an unwanted but necessary marriage, and a true queen trying to keep her head down and survive as long as she can. But every shifter needs a pack, and every queen needs a court, the Sentinels and Primes that keep her safe as she keeps the community together.
And it starts with a scent on the breeze.
