He accept the piece of Jin that does want him, even if its only the darkest part, never dreaming that Jin could want him in return.
Jin believes he had finally defeated his inner Devil, unaware of what his darker side is doing when he sleeps. Going straight to the man they both want.

The time line this fanfic follows is different from the official one, although much of what happens follows the official lore. Please keep this in mind, the timeline is wrong according to the official one sometimes, and some things do not happen in the same way: they all were choices I consciously made for the sake of the story.
