A silly, contrived human fairytale suddenly sprang to mind, where a fair princess who had hair as black as ebony and lips red as a rose had also met her undoing through a rotten apple. Even as Jude spit out remnants of the forbidden fruit and reached for her salt, I knew the stars had damned her today, just as they had done to me on the day of my birth.

Clarke Is the black sheep of the family, she didn't go to medical school like her parents or siblings, she chose to go into publishing because of her love for books. Her sister Josephine is about to get married and because that's another field Clarke failed in, Clarke lies that she has a boyfriend and she doesn't know why Bellamy's name comes out of her mouth seeing as she's convinced he kinda hates her even though she thinks he flirts with her sometimes.
During one of their late nights at the office Bellamy and Clarke share a bottle of wine. Clarke tells Bellamy about her family and that they think he's dating her, so he gets on one knee with a paper ring he just made and asks her to marry him.
