Maybe they're not close, but it doesn't really matter, does it? If he's nice enough, Eric might get laid. There's also a bonus in there of pissing off Vlad, although Eric refuses to think about exactly why he wants to piss Vlad off in the first place. It's a win-win, really. Eric can finally lose his virginity properly, to a girl, and he doesn't even have to think about anything gay. Easy.
