Summary
Will Byers has learned that normalcy is not in the pages for him.
He grew up abnormal. And, instead of growing out of it, he just grew into it. He stopped pretending that he wasn’t queer, he stopped being bothered by Zombie Boy, and, truthfully, he’s still overcoming the fact that he’s been used as a spy-slash-vessel ever since, but he’s been doing pretty good! Will is a freak, a nerd, a resurrectee, but he’s not going to let it plague him, because ever since the summer of ‘77 when he and Mike, six years old, laid on their stomachs and watched Star Wars, he knew the universe stuck Will The Wise upon the board, rolled for geekhood, and got twenty.
Will Byers was only fifteen years old, and all he did in his downtime was sketch, listen to music, and worry about what was next.
That was his normal.
That was, until he falls asleep so effortlessly one night that five minutes later, when an arachnid of no notable wonder crawls by, he is not there to witness when he rolls over and the spider panics, nips his hand, and henceforth changes the trajectory of his life.

Summary
“I don’t think that it has to mean that you’re into guys,” Lucas says. His words are accompanied by a casual shrug, and said in the tone of someone who has clearly already given this subject some thought. Will doesn’t know what to do with that information. Jump from a building, maybe. “I mean, we’d all get flustered if Spider-Man carried us in his arms.”
Mike points to him enthusiastically. “Thank you, Lucas.”
Dustin looks between the two of them, his eyes narrowed.
“...Would we?”
“Sure,” Mike concludes. “He’s attractive. That’s not a weird thing to think.”
Will just barely resists the urge to bang his head against the table. He feels Dustin’s eyes glued to his burning face, and sinks even further down his chair.
In which Mike tells Spider-Man that he has a crush on his best friend, and Will jumps to some very wrong conclusions.

Summary
With the Byers temporarily living under the Wheelers' roof, Mike and Will are forced into a proximity they’ve been desperately trying to avoid, after both getting sick. Between shared blankets and hazy fever dreams, the lines they’ve drawn between friendship and something more begin to blur, forcing them to confront a reality neither is ready to name.
Or
Mike and Will are in love with each other, but they're too scared to admit it, so it takes a delirious fever for them to finally stop lying to themselves, with childood memories and an angry confession in the rain.
