The tragedy of Sasuke's life left him with so little to hold, and yet so much to carry. There was a name, tradition, and a standard— but he soon finds that he is to be weighed down much further. One day, when he visits the place where the Uchiha held their secrets, he discovers that there is so much more that is hidden than he anticipated; and with one violent encounter, he is robbed of what little of himself that is still his own.

Summary
"Look at this, I wanted to tell the world. Look at this heron, this bird who carries the entire universe in its eye and still chooses to look at me. Chooses to count Fingon, the vicar's son, within the expanse of its gaze. What a tragedy it is that we human beings are born with so much love to give, then forced to live lives too small and sparsely furnished to ever accommodate more than a fraction of it. How devastating that we spend our earliest years learning how to fence away and leave fallow the most promising fields of our hearts."
_________
British India, 1930s: early days of the ancient friendship turned lifelong love affair between notorious political gangster Comrade Maedhros Fëanorian and dance-master Fingon, the local vicar’s son.

Summary
Where Franziska fell into horrible rages, Miles would grow taciturn and recalcitrant, the both of them so very determined to be perfect and—though she would only realize this years in the future—failing horribly at it in every field outside of the courtroom. Her father had tried to stamp these bad habits out of them, to very little avail; perhaps Gregory Edgeworth would have known better success.
Looking back on it, she would feel herself go cold with disgust. Stop trying, she wanted to say, wanted to slap herself across her face. Stop trying to hold it all in place. Do you think it is nice, how everyone is afraid when you step into a room because everything must always be exactly your way? Don't you think it's awful, that you—I—like it that they do?
Or, Franziska von Karma, falling apart.

Summary
And now, here, slumped in an alleyway with the taste of metal on your tongue, you understand one thing more: the first time was not luck. You are a man with a purpose and a body to enact it. You will not die until the thing is done.
What luck, at least, that the dying gets easier.
Kazuma dies, and dies again. It doesn’t change anything. (Or: a resurrection in five acts.)
