Keith’s brows lower, “No I just-“
“Where’s Lance then?” Shiro interjects a bit sternly. He was probably getting fed up with the twos fighting by now.
“Oh man, don’t tell me the castle ate him..” Hunk whines causing Pidge to look up.
Alluras face scrunches up in confusion. “Excuse me?”
“Long story, princess. Basically Lance was-“
“I’ve shrunken!” Lances tiny voice yells out making everyone pause. “Your crazy alien technology made me small!!”

Summary
Keith is used to more than his fair share of dark looks. What he’s not used to is seeing those looks directed at Lance for no reason that he can determine and it’s making something uneasy settle in his stomach and the heavy press of the mantle of leader weigh even heavier as he should be doing something about it but he doesn’t know what. But causing a scene will upset the alliance they need and so Keith chooses to wait it out, to address it after the feast.
He should never have waited.

“Atrocities?” the elder murmured. “You think we are committing atrocities? No,” he gave a shake of his head. “We are imparting our history to Voltron. We want you to understand the pain we have felt, the suffering we have endured, the hopelessness we have despaired in. Only then can you understand and only then can you fix what your absence, your failure in your duties, has caused.”
And the way chosen for Voltron to fix this broken world? They'll need to select among themselves a sacrifice to die and absolve the rest of Voltron of its perceived sins.
And Lance knows without a doubt who it has to be. He's the weak link after all and the rest of them are so much more important for the fate of the universe. He couldn't save his team from this torture, but he can absolutely save them from death.

She looked at him, puzzled. “We have training this morning, Lance,” she said as she moved to clear away her own plate. “Then I suppose Shiro, Coran, and I will be working on details for our mission to Asorora to bring them supplies now that they have been liberated.”
He smiled and nodded at her as he watched her walk to the kitchen. He tried not to feel a little disappointed that no one mentioned his birthday.
They've probably completely forgotten about you.
