Summary
Dorcas always heard horror stories about first year dorms before she started university. Luckily, most of the people she ended up living around seem nice, and besides, the pretty girl she passes in the corridors makes her living situation very worth it. On one Friday night, a snowstorm causes a power outage, and under candlelight, some things can be seen more clearly.

She’d been doing it since she was thirteen - probably way too young to go out to strangers’ parties or gigs, with the naive hope of bumping into some big-time producer who would launch her to stardom. By fourteen, she knew all the bars around Hollywood - the ones that would serve her without a second glance, the ones with bouncers that would let her in. She knew most of the producers and managers that were around. She knew all the up-and-coming bands, the ones which people thought had a chance of making it, the ones which people thought certainly didn’t. At fifteen, she had tried almost every drug under the sun - meth and heroin being the only two that she considered off-limits. At sixteen, she still had the same dream when walking into a bar that she would meet a producer willing to give her a real chance, but she had it in a much more sophisticated, and much less naive way than when she was thirteen - with eyeliner.

“You’re not going to tell Sirius about us though, right?” Dorcas checked. “We don’t need to make a big fuss about this-”

Marlene snorted a laugh and lifted up onto her knees. She goon-grinned at Dorcas with a mischievous smile. “Try again.”
Arching an eyebrow, Dorcas met her gaze defiantly. “An arrogant twat.”
“Stop with the compliments, Dorky! You’re making me blush!” Marlene teased. She patted Dorcas’s cheek. “You know what I want to hear. Are you going to make me beg for it?”
