The young boy held up his hand, stopping Arthur’s rambling, “No problem. You were right.”
Arthur stiffened, his blood going even colder as he noticed Anthony Lockwood had not looked away from a point beyond the gate, the exact spot he had been clinging to moments before. He spun around, a futile attempt to see what the boy was staring at. All Arthur got was the same sense of wrongness that had followed him from his car.

Summary
Lucy’s not naïve; she knows she’ll likely always have moments where she feels out of place and like she doesn’t belong. No matter how talented she might be, a city like London doesn’t wait for anyone. But there are also moments when she thinks this little corner of London was waiting for her, on Portland Row with Lockwood and George. She knows they feel it too.
Something she didn’t even know she was missing seamlessly slid into place the first day she stepped over the threshold of 35 Portland Row, the first time she argued with George, the first time Lockwood grinned at her across the living room, the first time she walked up the creaky steps to her attic.
She might not be able to claim all of London, but this house, these two boys? They were waiting for her, and being with them is like finding a missing puzzle piece, as comforting as a nap on a Sunday afternoon or a hot cup of tea on a rainy morning.
