TLDR

This Fic is meant to be an intermission between Season 4 and Season 5, with the assumption that Vecna doesn’t return with full force until all the cast are 18.
Mainly Will Byers POV but some chapters are Mike because he is also very fun to write. -

Summary
Goro Akechi returns to life six months after the fall of Maruki’s reality, spit out by the sea of souls onto a remote island off the coast of Japan. He brings back with him an ancient fairytale forest haunted by the ghosts of everyone he’s ever killed. And he is the only one who can free them from imprisonment in the woods. Instead of destroying everything inside, Goro chooses to stay. Wandering the forest, he completes impossible task after impossible task in the hopes of saving all his ghosts.
When Ren Amamiya learns Akechi survived he becomes focused on the challenge he believes has been thrown down - to find him and drag him back to Tokyo. But for Ren discovering where Akechi has gone proves to be its own impossible task, one that might unravel him.

Summary
Goro died in early December of 2016, he doesn't remember the day exactly. Goro went back to being dead on February 3rd, 2017, and he'd made peace with that. His one regret was how much pain his death surely caused the one person he'd sacrifice everything for. Had sacrificed everything for. When he opens his eyes on June 9th, 2016, that regret is the only thing on his mind. He knows it's already too late to make up for what he's done, but at the very least, he can save Akira from pain he shouldn't have to face. Maybe he can even save himself along the way.
