Sergio starts to pace around his bedroom, trying to not assume the worst. He can’t. He shouldn’t, or else he would crumble. He has to strain himself to speak. “What… What do you need help with?”
There is only dead air in the call, and Sergio can feel himself starting to tear up when a few seconds go by with no answer. The clock above Sergio’s desk ticks, counting the seconds down. “Nonong. Tell me.”
(Manuel runs to Sergio for help. Sergio has to meet him halfway to save them both.)

Manuel almost wants to give in already and stop this little charade, but where’s the fun in that? Instead, Manuel puts on a frown not unlike Sergio’s own. “You can’t tell me what to do. This is mine.”
“None of that.” Sergio looks almost disappointed as he plucks the cigarette right out of Manuel’s mouth. “You promised that we would share.”
Then Sergio cradles the cigarette between his own teeth and lights it.
