“Hey, what’s up?” Jonathan asks. Will stays in the doorway, fidgeting with the hem of his shirt. He doesn’t quite meet Jonathan’s eyes.
“I—” he starts. “I mean, you said you were here if I wanted to talk. And I don’t—I don’t know, I want to—I think I should talk, but I don’t want to say anything, and I—I don’t, I mean, it’s—”
“Will,” Jonathan says, cutting his brother off. “It’s okay. We can just sit here. Listen to some music. You don’t have to talk if you don’t want to.”
“I know you know.”

Summary
Just how had Jonathan never noticed? His brother who had spent a week in the upside-down, his 11 years old, 4'9 feet younger brother who had survived hell, thought he was a mistake and he never went to Jonathan because he thought he'd burden him?
To have missed that, how could Jonathan ever forgive himself?
He couldn't.
He just couldn't.
Basically a rewrite of Volume 2 episode 9 pizzeria scene cause I thought we needed more on how Will actually felt and more brotherly love

Summary
“Luke Skywalker? Your type is Luke Skywalker?”
“He faces off against his own dad! It’s super brave!” Will looks at Jonathan and Jonathan looks back. Then, they burst out laughing. A type of laugh that fills the whole car. A type of laugh tinged with relief. Relief that Jonathan gets to know his brother like this and Will gets to be known.

Summary
Here is what Jonathan will not say: I stabbed my boss in the neck with a pair of scissors. I watched him die, and I didn’t even like him. I can’t leave you and Mom in California to go to Boston because I’m paralyzed by the fear something will happen, and you’ll both die, and I’ll be 3,000 miles away.
Ultimately, Jonathan will not lay his issues, his trauma, at Will’s feet and ask his younger brother, who cried when their father stepped on bugs and who has seen horrors Jonathan will never understand, to deal with it.
[Or: On the way back to Hawkins, Jonathan observed. Outside a motel in Kansas, Jonathan and Will have a conversation.]
