Summary
The first time Ren falls ill, several years into their relationship, it's the flu. Perfectly ordinary, infinitely manageable. Akechi worries anyway. Or panics, depending on who you ask.
Nine years later, they have caring for each other down to a science. Akechi doesn't like to think he gets migraines often, but the fact that Ren knows precisely what to do suggests otherwise.
Six years after that, Sai's not technically sick. But Akechi knows the poor kid needs a break.
[Three chapters, three scenarios, variously post-canon. Ren and Akechi are together throughout. The first chapter doesn't reference any of the other Tricksters fics, so if you're new to that series, you can read this one and understand everything!]

Summary
Every year since Akechi weaseled Ren's birthdate out of him, they've celebrated Ren's birthday privately. Ren is perfectly happy with that arrangement. But when their daughter, Maya, asks the billion-yen question, "When's your birthday?", followed by, "Why haven't we ever thrown you a party?", it's hard to find a good excuse. Especially when she and her sister Sai decide to organize the best baking contest the Amagi Inn has ever seen.
(It helps that Ren has birthday sex with Akechi to look forward to, too.)

Futaba and Yusuke argue about art all the time. Today, the topic is The Dream of the Fisherman's Wife. Futaba says there's no way anybody could actually enjoy getting (as she puts it) tentacle raped. Yusuke disagrees (and wishes she'd stop calling it that). Luckily they have Futaba's Persona to help test the theory.

Yu and Yosuke's daughter is seven weeks old when Yu calls Ren. Something's wrong with Yosuke, he says. Ever since Kanae was born, he's seemed...really, really, really anxious. Can Ren come to Inaba and talk to him?

In battle and in bed, Goro Akechi has always been assured of his own power. He and Ren are evenly matched; he and Yosuke Hanamura, less so, with Akechi literally on top. Yu Narukami, though...Akechi would like to say that Yu is an enigma, that his strength is uncertain. But truthfully, Akechi is pretty sure that Yu is stronger than him. Could overpower him.
The thought is more compelling than he's willing to admit.

Do you want kids? Ren asked Akechi two years ago, the night they decided to get married. Yes. He did. They do. So when they’re given the chance to adopt a pair of sisters, ten-year-old Maya and two-year-old Sai, they take it.
They’re prepared for a rough transition: for arguments, and upset, and struggle. That, they can handle, or find ways to handle. They are not prepared for the resurgence of an old and familiar evil that threatens to destroy the tenuous family they’ve built.
They probably should have expected it, though. After all, this always happens to them.

Ren goes to Inaba for three reasons: to see his boyfriend, who’s been stuck there working on a case; to celebrate graduating from college and becoming, as Yosuke puts it, a Real Adult; and to visit his parents, eventually. He should’ve known that all of these things would immediately collide in the worst possible ways. And if Akechi is an unstoppable force, Ren’s parents are definitely an immovable object.
