Summary
Years later, Arthur would look back on what he thought was the worst day of his life and realize that it was probably the best thing that could have ever happened to him. Sure he had lost everything he ever owned and was currently sharing a dingy Welsh inn room with his witch of a sister. And yeah, his emotionally-distant father and overbearing stepmother were now separated from him only by a thin plywood door. His father also definitely had some undisclosed history with Ealdor’s community council chair. And it’s entirely possible that the inn’s receptionist was going to break into his room and smother him while he slept... Where was he going with this?

Summary
At his coronation, Arthur receives a great many gifts; however, one in particular stands out as Arthur learns it has the ability to transport him 1,500 years into the future while he sleeps.
With the mounting pressure that comes with ruling a kingdom, Arthur slowly finds himself preferring this dream-world where it seems that everything he's ever wanted is true. His mother and father alive, Morgana her old self, his friends together, and Merlin properly at his side. As Camelot begins collapsing around Arthur as he sleeps, he's faced with a choice: to remain in the world of dreams or return to his real life and destiny. Merlin only hopes that he can convince Arthur to stay in the real world before it's too late.

After losing everything and being forced to live in a rundown inn in the Welsh countryside for the better part of a year, Arthur was both surprised and relieved to have found a friend in Merlin, the inn's snarky receptionist.
Of course, it was likely that he just ruined that friendship, seeing as how they’d just slept together.
