Summary
He could feel the pounding headache, the burn in his lungs and his organs failing him one by one.
But he couldn’t think about any of that.Thinking meant slowing down. And slowing down meant dying.
He had to keep walking, until he was the only one still walking, their winner.
Then they would all see him for what he was: the best. Better than all the other boys.or: Barkovitch and Parker are the last ones walking in the Long Walk.

Summary
Gary groaned into his pillow, and ignored the look that Rank had shot his way. Two fucking hours of his life wasted on going through online dictionaries just to learn that Parker introduced himself like a normal fucking human being.
He had figured it out, he could close the laptop, forget about it all and go to sleep. But… He could also go through the fingerspelled alphabet, just in case Parker needed to spell something to him again. It would be easier that way, that's all. It didn’t mean anything more.
He didn’t close his laptop until he had all the letters of the alphabet memorized.
or; gary barkovitch finds one person on campus who doesnt immediately hate him and he is determined to change that. even if it means learning a new language

Summary
He remembered the gunshot.
He remembered dying. He had died, he was sure of it. How was this possible? Was this his life rewinding itself, some montage before his death?
But it didn’t feel like a memory. It looked so real. He was there. Then, the guards barked their orders. The Major gave his speech. And the Walk began, exactly like it did before.
What the fuck?
Stuck in a time loop, Collie Parker didn’t expect to find himself watching Gary Barkovitch. He definitely didn’t expect Gary to look back.

Summary
‘Olson told me that when him and his wife said their goodbyes when he left home for the Walk, they said each other’s Words. That’s when they both knew he wasn’t coming back.’
‘Oh shit.’Everyone had the last words that your soulmate will say to you tattooed on their skin from the moment they were born. Some people had a long streak of words, something memorable. Sometimes it was Words that could point them in the direction of their soulmate, to make finding them easier. He only had one word, and it was his name. Ray. Written in a neat handwriting above his heart.
Or: Ray Garraty falls in love in a place where only one person can make it out alive.

Summary
"I know what a breakup looks like," Daniel says. "The better question is, why are you coming to me about it? I'm the one who broke up your little sham."
"This is what humans do, don't they?" Armand asks, letting his voice drop. "Crashing on their friends' couches when there's a blip in their romances?"
"Except we're not friends. We're actually very much not friends." Daniel shrugs, as if it's all the same to him. "And I can't imagine the great vampire Armand deigning himself to sleep on my fucked-up sofa. That thing's been here since the nineties."
"Well," Armand only says. "I saw you have a guest bedroom."

Summary
ISO: Carer to look after my father for 8 weeks this summer.
Dad is 71, early stage Parkinson’s disease, broke his hip 6 weeks ago. No signs of cognitive decline; mostly needs help with household tasks (cooking, light cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping), getting dressed, showering, changing cat litter/general cat care, getting to and from appointments.
Please know what you are getting into; Dad is physically more or less in good health but awful at accepting his limitations, unnecessarily mean, generally uncooperative, and largely nocturnal. Imagine yourself caring for a feral raccoon that is convinced it’s going to write another book, then subtract everything that is cute about raccoons.
$20/hour, roughly 4 hours a day. Must be able to pass a background check and lift 50 lbs. Patience of a saint not required but preferred.- Language:

Summary
When Whitaker accidentally sends a dick pic to Dr. Robby, he never thought it would end like this.
--
The ED team shuffles out, Whitaker and Dr. Robby taking up the rear. Dr. Robby stops him with a hand on Whitaker’s waist, there and gone. “Really,” he says low, directly into his ear, beard scratching his cartilage, “that was amazing. You didn’t waste any time starting compressions. That probably saved that baby’s life. You saved that baby’s life.”
The praise goes to his head, suffusing him with endorphins. “Thank you, Dad.” And he promptly wants to crawl out of his skin and slither down the drain with the after birth slop.
