It quickly becomes very important to Gi-hun that handsome stranger does not see Gi-hun as the pathetic loser that he actually is. 'I left my wallet at home, and I picked the wrong day to take public transportation,' he laughs, trying to sound convincing. Handsome stranger just smiles, and he does it in such a way that Gi-hun can’t tell whether or not he knows that he is talking out of his ass."

Gi-hun is a broke cab driver who is struggling to climb his way out of debt when he meets In-ho, a handsome detective from the rich part of town who pays for his coffee. Enamored, Gi-hun wants to keep spending time with him, but he really doesn't want him to find out just how much he's drowning in debt. This leads to issues.

The admission makes In-ho feel dizzy with desire. “Wh…what?”
Slight panic fills Gi-hun’s eyes and he pulls away a little. “Unless you don’t want to.”
He knows that he should say no. He should take the out that Gi-hun is giving him. Kissing has gone far enough.
But something about Gi-hun just makes him act stupid.
“I want to. Of course I want to.” How could he not? How could Gi-hun ever think that he wouldn’t want to?

So he left and somehow his problems didn’t follow him. Nothing followed him, actually.-
Richie and Eddie love each other in 1991, things are just...complicated. Eddie's not as ready as he thought he was.

They were supposed to pretend that they didn't know it was weird for them to sit together in the hammock at seventeen years old. They were supposed to pretend like it was still okay to go to the clubhouse, just the two of them. They were supposed to tiptoe around each other and grin and blush and sometimes maybe Eddie would dare to lean his head on Richie's shoulder.
Richie was not supposed to ruin it by speaking out loud what they both have been too scared to admit. Because now Eddie knows and he kind of wants to throw up at the horrifying realization that things are changing.
