Again, Toni may have been young, but her breath catches when she opens her eyes to see a girl hovering over her- a real pretty girl with gold hair and green eyes- freckles scattered along her face. She looks scared, eyes full of worry. The way the afternoon sun shines around her, it makes Toni wonder if she’s not on earth anymore because while she isn’t a fan of church, she knows the stories, so- she asks and till this day, she’d remember her six-year-old self and the first words that she ever spoke to Shelby Goodkind. “Am I dead?” She croaks and the other little girl who somehow manages to take out a mini package of tissues.

Summary
Agent Shelby Goodkind is the chief Communications Liaison with the Behavioural Analysis Unit (BAU) for the FBI. She is compassionate, strong willed and determined. Naturally, she is also enemies with Agent Toni Shalifoe, a profiler on the same team.
Agent Toni Shalifoe is headstrong, driven and ultra-brooding and of course despises Shelby as much as her profession will allow her.
However, when strange letters begin arriving at the BAU the two agents are pushed to the limits. Testing their boundaries both professionally and personally as they work together alongside their team to find the source and prevent devastation.
Not only does it bring them closer to the truth about their clouded pasts, but closer than two enemies would care to admit.

In an attempt to help Toni get over her ex, Martha sends out the letters Toni wrote for each of her crushes throughout the years. When Shelby of all people receives one of the letters, Toni is utterly surprised. She’s even more surprised Shelby found a way to convince her into a fake relationship. The thing about “fake relationships” is they never end how they start.

“Was it weird that I kissed you yesterday?” Shelby asked quickly after glancing from Toni’s lips to her eyes. She sweeped the gloss across Toni’s lips as if to spare some time before she had to hear Toni’s answer.“No, why would it be?” The only weird thing about the kiss was how Toni felt afterwards. For a fake relationship, the kiss felt very real. “I’m your girlfriend, right?”

Toni is the first female football player in her high schools history and her school has this old tradition of assigning cheerleaders to the football players to decorate their locker. Toni thinks is absolute shit and doesn't agree with it, but takes Shelby up on her offer because who wouldn't pass up homemade mac and cheese.
