Summary
Disaster strikes the Hail Mary on its way back to Earth. The taumoeba escape their breeding tanks, and make it to the fuel lines. Stranded in space just outside the Tau Ceti system, Dr Ryland Grace can't do anything. He can't go save Rocky, he can't go save Earth. Exhausted, out of options, and distraught, he fills the ship with nitrogen, and takes his final breath.
Next thing he knows, his eyes flutter open in his San Francisco apartment. It's a year before ArcLight touches down on Earth, but he remembers the Petrova Task Force.

Told by Garnok of the arrival of Aideen's latest chosen, the Dark Riders sink the ferry carrying her. Amidst the mess of lifeboats and shouts, what's one more young child slipping under the waves?
But the Goddess is loath to part with what is hers. She brings her charge to the shore, and though she lives, she is not unscathed. Memories of the before and of the self are gone. But...
