Following the ending of S5 vol 1., Mike and Will navigate their feelings for each other, dangerous misunderstandings, an ultimately manipulated story, and, unknowingly, how to break their curse when it inevitably all comes down to them to save the world -- and each other.
**this fic IS byler, but it's written into the story in a realistic way that makes the story and especially mike's character make much more sense. him, will, and especially el, deserved so much better.
plot holes and (most) of our grievances will be fixed in this story.

Will had been stuck in the Upside Down for the past three years. They hadn't believed he was alive and El closed the gates, locking him with the monsters, with Vecna. It is only when the events of season four begin, Vecna begins to open the gates, that Will is able to escape, go home. But how does a person go home when their entire world has been turned Upside Down? Literally...

This takes place before/during season five. (Kinda a rewrite of season 5, too.) Also kinda Byler focused :)
