Summary
Stebbins stops, Ray drowns, and Pete gets hurt pretty damn bad at Mile 326. But somehow, Stebbins doesn't get a bullet to the head, Ray ends up breathing again, and Pete's still standing. But they're now fugitives and likely expected to continue walking once they're found.
But there's still moments, like Pete's always said. And there's a few more left for the three of them to have. Some together, some apart. But still moments nonetheless.
And choices. Choices left to be made that determine whether they might just survive, or die again on the road.

Hank and Collie and Gary try to capitalize on the Major's demise. But not before a lot of other shit happens in the interim. Meaning like scandals and sex and kidnappings and a whole lotta other normal stuff that happens during a campaign.

Ray wins The Long Walk all those years ago and wishes for a suicide mission. He wishes for the carbine, like he always said he would. But instead of pulling the trigger, he wishes for something else, wishes it into the universe. Something he's not quite sure of at the time, but just that things were different and he'd met Pete and the others elsewhere, somewhere that's not the road. And the universe apparently listens.
