Summary
When the mysterious Professor Lewis asks his students what they’d choose to be if they had the chance to live in Middle-earth, Caryn Emmerson thinks she has the perfect answer:
A dragon.
Caryn only likes to play games when she knows she can win — and being a dragon is surely the way to win Middle-earth. To be one of the most powerful creatures in the world, with enough firepower to level a city and enough treasure to live in luxury for the rest of her life! Let the other students pick boring things like hobbits or rangers or other flammable creatures. She can’t lose, right?
Wrong.
Because this isn’t a game, and Caryn Emmerson is about to learn why so few dragons are recorded in Middle-earth’s histories: They have to survive long enough to grow up.

Summary
He seemed to feel her staring. He rolled over and regarded her, heavy-lidded. The eyes beneath the long lashes were glittering dark and knowing, the eyes of a grown man in the face of a beardless youth fair as a girl. It was the face of a young god or a dream-vision. Were they all like this, the Elves of this west country? Ye gods! This ill-spoken prince hadn’t even been the prettiest one at the party.

Summary
"Maedhros sought destruction body and spirit, and found both. When Mandos summoned him, he refused, and first of them all he has been taken by the void that they swore themselves to. He is not in the world, and will not come again. Deeper darknesses are there than that which Morgoth made below Thangorodrim!” Fingon paused and looked at Finrod. “Should I not then have killed him as he asked me?”
“No!” said Finrod, but Turgon said nothing.
Sam grew even more upset. “Now that’s not right,” he said, “that can’t be right! Just or not – and I don’t know that it is, begging your pardon, sir – still, no story should end that way!”

Summary
Eöl was the original dark elf and so Maeglin can't recover in the Halls of Mandos, Aredhel can't leave the Halls without her son, and Turgon suffers of a broken family for three bloody ages. Tired of waiting for his beloved sister, Turgon has rallied the Finwëans and Fëanorians against Námo in a war of petition attrition. Námo seems to be throwing up his hands, so maybe let the elves handle their own... except Maeglin doesn't want any of it.

Summary
As had now become his habit, Glorfindel strode in to Erestor's office with nary a knock or warning, and proclaimed: "I told Celegwen that we are together."
Erestor looked up from his work. "The persistent archer?" he asked placidly, despite the fact that he and Glorfindel were most definitely not, to his knowledge, together. "I see. What did she say?"
...or the five times Erestor let them pretend to be a couple, and the one time that they didn't.
