When Floyd noted the rather panicked look evident on Poppy’s face, and the fact that she was looking upwards, he found himself looking upwards as well, and unknowingly letting go of her hand. Up at the three spiders that seemed to be lowering themselves to the ground in front of them. A silence had made itself clear in that time, Floyd quickly breaking it.
Floyd grabbed hold of her hand. “Poppy, we need to get out of here,” he told her. “Now.”
The queen couldn’t find herself able to answer, backing up. Something Floyd also did as quietly as possible.
Neither of them realized that they had backed up straight into a spider web. Or that there was a fourth spider nearby.
Or: When Poppy steals Branch’s vest just for the fun of it, he yells at her and causes her to run off in the direction of danger. Branch sends Floyd after her out of worry when he realizes, unaware that he was going to have to save his girlfriend and his brother when they end up in danger.
