When their fingers brushed as she handed her wet dishes to him, Yor had to fight the urge to snatch her hand away. Her eyes would immediately lock onto the dish she was washing as she felt her face heat up. Part of her wished to just let her hand rest there, to intertwine her fingers with his. Though, she couldn’t fathom doing something so embarrassing. She could hardly look his way afterwards, too afraid he’d notice her reddening face.

Nightmares seemed to be a common occurrence within the Forger residence. If it weren’t his own nightmares jolting him from his sleep, he could sometimes hear a muffled cry coming from Yor or Anya’s room. Anya would normally wake one of them up if it was too scary for her, but he never helped Yor through hers— It always felt like a step too far, something he would be unable to take back, something that could change them forever.

Summary
He laid in bed many nights, wondering what he would do if the cold war ended. Would he still work as a spy? Would they still need him? He could become a family man, but he only knew how to act the part, not actually be one. Becoming a “real” family man meant telling Yor and Anya the truth and he wasn’t sure they would forgive him. He wouldn’t forgive someone like him. The lies alone were unforgivable and their relationship was built off a false persona. Loid wasn’t real, just a catered version to fit into the family he was given.
