    Summary

    Here's what Colt Seavers knew:
    - He wasn't in his universe anymore.
    - Dr. Ryland Grace had his face.
    - The singing boulder-spiders wanted Dr. Ryland Grace to be immortal.
    - They needed Colt's heart.

This really should be a lot more terrifying than it is, but hey, free healthcare is pretty great and this Dr. Grace guy isn't so bad. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to hear them out.

A fic based off Jube-Art's Backup Leaky Space Blob AU where the Eridians pull other rygos into their world through interdimensional science shenanigans. Be prepared for found family, support systems, free healthcare, and some angst for flavor.

It was the lack of noise that told Courtland Gentry more than anything else that no one was actively trying to kill him at the moment. Had his assailant left him for dead? Didn’t matter, he needed to move no matter what additional pain it woke in his heavy body. Gathering his arms under him, he pushed up—

There was something in his right fist. Taking one last look around the alley to verify no new threats were materializing—Christ, what city was he even in?—he pushed back to sit against the nearest cracked brick wall and uncurled his fingers.

A crumpled yellow sticky note wrapped around a cheap plastic thumb drive lay in his palm.

He unfurled the creased paper and found his own blocky handwriting staring up at him.

"He goes to space. 37 loops and no matter what I do, he always goes to space."

Then, in letters so heavily pressed into the paper the ballpoint had almost torn through it:

    "Save him. Save them both."

    Summary

Below every world, every Otherland, every place where magic leaks into the world and makes new forms of people, there is a Firstland. Every Firstland is the purest font of its own magic, the most concentrated and the most boundless, too purely magical to live in, and yet too connected to the magic to drift away forever. For the Faelands, which sit so closely against the mortal world that the Firstland itself can nearly brush the place on only third-degree magic, the Firstland is Dream.

The concept of Firstlands annoys the hell out of Rocky and Adrian. It's less concerning for Colt and Jody, even a source of inspiration for them. "You can't be too mad about it," Grace tells Rocky and Adrian, after everything is over, curled up in a pile of overlapping limbs and bleeding-together magic. "Saved the world, after all."

"The Firstlands didn't save shit," Rocky denies vehemently. "We saved the world."

"Yes, you did," Adrian laughs, cold hands gentle with both of them. "So stop complaining."
    ---
Or: a young woman is told to take her child, or a changeling. She takes both. Decades later, that choice, and a whole bunch of love, saves every world.
