Summary
Dojima Daigo was a peculiar man. Though he was made of flesh and blood, he surrounded himself with works of artifice. His workshop was piled with boxes of assorted bits and bobs, brass and bronze, an horologist’s dream. Daigo often awoke to the chirping of mechanical canaries he had lovingly assembled with his own two hands, the roar of airships passing by their tower in the sky. He wanted for nothing—he had a clockwork doll to pour his tea, a walking ottoman to fetch his clothes, a cogwheel cart to haul his tools, and a refurbished entertainment karakuri for everything else. This last one was quite dear to him.

Summary
After a decade in prison for Shimano's murder, Majima finds himself a very different man than Kamurocho once knew. Trying to determine where he fits in this new world, he is approached by Kiryu, who is committed to help him become the Mad Dog once more through a series of increasingly unhinged fights, costumes, and feelings. In the end, who is helping who become the man they're supposed to be? Maybe, they're just meant to figure it out together.

“Majima no niisan!”
A voice from his dreams. No, from his wildest fantasies, imagined so many times over the past ten, fifteen, almost twenty freakin’ years called to him, a goddamn siren song he would gladly drown himself to. A towering figure stepped out from the shadows and into the flashing, neon lights, his striking features thrown in sharp relief. It was like a scene out of a movie; whether it was an action flick, or a romance, or the greatest porno ever, it was all the same to Majima.
“Kiryuuuu-chan!” Majima trilled, his voice made big and loud with the growing feeling inside of him. His rictus grin, pulled back in wild, animalistic impulse, transformed into something damn near happy. Kiryu-chan was here. It was really him.

Bookmarker's Notes
“I mean,” Kiryu replied, not flustered exactly; more like the thought hadn’t occurred to him before now. “From myself, I guess? I don’t date much. At all, really. When it comes down to it, I’d rather fight with you than fuck anyone else.”
It was the most romantic thing Majima had ever heard in his entire life. Wedding vows were less epic and sweeping than this. It was a Hallmark card-worthy declaration to Majima. He would tattoo it on his heart, if he could. He kissed Kiryu, to hide his face and how much the words meant to him.

Summary
Spoilers for the entirety of Gaiden and Infinite Wealth
It had just been back pain, Kiryu thought. Just a weak muscle, expected from all the years of abuse he’d endured. The cough had just been evidence of his bad habit, typical. All old men had back pain; all smokers had a cough. It wasn’t fair that it was anything more than that.
He briefly thought he should tell someone. That was what people did, right? He didn’t know who he’d tell, and stranger still, he couldn’t ignore the impulse to hoard this death sentence, to keep it all to himself. This was what he’d hoped for more than anything: a way out of limbo. An exit. He’d wanted this — somehow in some form — and yet a small part of him raged against it, furious and afraid of the shape it’d taken.

“People would ask you for help, and then you’d get hurt, and then they’d say ‘thanks for your help’ and leave. They never stuck around long enough to see the aftermath. It felt like I was the only one who could see that you weren’t invincible.” She frowned. “I watched that video and thought that if I didn’t come take care of you, no one else would, because no one else would know that it needed to be done.”

Summary
Kiryu’s always had trouble taking charge. That doesn’t change just because he becomes Fourth Chairman of the Tojo Clan overnight.
Luckily, he's got Majima, who's more than willing to help Kiryu practice being in control. Who says the Mad Dog can't be a well-behaved pet for the right owner? Especially if he gets something out of it, too.
Or: Majima convinces Kiryu to try domming and also some other stuff.

“Ya big sap,” Majima accuses, blustering as he tries to deflect from his burning cheeks. “That’s enough, I believe ya.” Stupid Kiryu, why can’t it ever just be sex with him? Why’s he always gotta be so sweet when Majima’s trying to toughen him up?

Summary
Asking Kiryu on a date is supposed to be a joke. It’s just another in Majima’s long list of contrived reasons for Kiryu to get mad enough at him to fight him.
So he’s thrown for a loop when Kiryu doesn’t answer him by punching him in face, but by accepting.
Obviously Kiryu’s playing along, just like he did with the bartender scheme, and with Goromi, and everything else. Majima can work with that. There’s no way he’ll crack before Kiryu does.
Or: Majima commits to the bit so hard he ends up in a long-term relationship.

Bookmarker's Notes
So, fine. The Mad Dog’s got a heart after all. A stupid heart that doesn’t know what’s good for it and can’t tell the difference between a joke and a genuine relationship, but a heart nonetheless. Every time Kiryu hits him with fake goo-goo eyes, his attempts to keep writing off the tightness in his chest as indigestion get flimsier and flimsier. By now, he’s forced to acknowledge it for what it really is: an embarrassingly genuine crush that goes well beyond sexual interest.

Summary
“And here he is,” the priest said cheerfully. “Hanawa-san, allow me to introduce you to—”
Kazuma Kiryu. Dead in Onomichi with his ashes interred in Naha and his ghost lingering in a temple garden on the outskirts of Yokohama. Darker beneath his eyes, more creased above his brow, brushed with stray hints of white around his temples and down his thick sideburns, clad in a samue instead of a suit, but still unmistakably himself.
Hanawa took a breath. “Why on earth are you dressed like that?” he demanded.
“I’m here to free myself from worldly desires,” Kiryu said, turning his gaze back to the garden.

Bookmarker's Notes
Of course it all meant nothing. An artist didn’t need a sixth sense to perceive that the chinpira lying in his studio had bought all the platitudes his patriarch had sold him on the subject of honour or loyalty or strength or wealth. It didn’t take a feat of mystical prescience, either, to see that a man who was foolish enough to bear those platitudes’ symbols on his back would go on to destroy himself in their pursuit. There in the middle of a half-empty safehouse that echoed with their soft, longing exhalations, a disgraced and exiled dragon curled himself tenderly around one of hell’s middle managers, and that, too, seemed wholly predictable in retrospect.
